The Cha Cha Slide with Mrs. Wakeman's Class

One of our favorite activities to do is the "Cha Cha Slide".  Some classes request it every time they have Music Class!  Here are pictures of Mrs. Wakeman's class dancing and moving to the "Cha Cha Slide."

Everybody clap your hands!

5 hops!

Hands on your knees, hands on your knees!

Get funky with it!

One (giant) hop!

To the right!

The Jefferson School Song

Have you ever heard your son or daughter singing The Jefferson School Song?  Chances are, you have!  We love to show our pride in our school by singing the school song.  Here is Ms. Simon's 1st and 2nd grade class singing The Jefferson School Song this morning at the beginning of our time together.  What great singing - and what a great bunch of kids, too!

"The Jefferson School Song"

We are Jefferson School, where good learning is the rule,
and our love for our school we will SHOUT!
Our school's one from which we'd never switch,
it's what our great school is about.
And when West Allis says that its schools are the best,
Jefferson's one reason why.
If growing smart and strong is what you want,
then Jefferson's the place to try!

Ms. Raab's First Grade Class - Piano/Forte

9-18-12

Just like our friends in Mrs. Worden's class, Ms. Raab's class is learning to tell the difference between loud and soft or quiet sounds, and being able to use the Italian words for each (piano = soft, forte = loud).  They had a lot of fun thinking of sounds to go in each list.  Check out our work!

A student adds his idea to the list of piano sounds.

This young lady is adding her idea to the forte list.

All smiles to add his ideas!

Adding "lion" to the forte sounds.

Finishing up on our lists.

Our completed lists of piano and forte sounds.  Great job!

Our Four Voices - Kindergarten and K/1

In Kindergarten and some Kindergarten/First Grade combination classes, we are learning about the 4 ways we use our voices.  Students from Mrs. Bagurdes' K/1 class and Ms. Robillard's Kindergarten class demonstrate their favorite way to use their voice.  Check us out!

First Grade Music - Piano/Forte

9-17-12  In Music Class this week, First Grades are learning more about the difference between loud and soft sounds.  We are starting to use a new language for describing these sounds:  piano means soft and forte means loud.  We decided to make a list of sounds that fit into each category.  Check out our work!

Students from Mrs. Worden's First Grade Class work on adding their ideas to our list.
